The other day, Lorie told me she read an article somewhere saying that the life expectancy was expected to drop as much as five years. "We're all unhealthy, lazy, and stressed out" she said ( Read more... )

Hmm that was a very inspiring post.
I take multivitamins, you shoulda asked me! ;)
And, yeah, the Atkins diet is ridiculous. "Umm don't eat most vegetables but load your gut with meat meat meat". No.

In the last two years, I have taken my health and diet very seriously. I just wish others would too.

I'm not gonna have any friends when I'm 67!

Cats? There are always cats... kidding ;)

You're right though, not enough people take their health seriously, which seems very odd seeing as how the media that people treasure so much is even telling us to watch ourselves...

dude i've taken multivitamins every day since i was old enough to chew the tablets haha

but yes i agree with you. not the same thing, but kinda related: it's sad how no one home cooks anymore. there's so many restaurants and microwaveable CRAP to take the place of actually having some basic culinary skills. drives me up a wall. i have a homecooked meal probably 25 days out of any given month

I was having this conversation with a guy I work with and he said that he was stopping at McDonald's after work to get something quick to eat. So I asked him, "Do you like tuna?" and he said, "yes". I then said, "Why don't you have a tuna sandwich when you get home instead?" And I swear, he said that he was too lazy to open the can and make it.

I couldn't even believe my ears. Too lazy to do something that takes five minutes.

oh god i know..

you know how long it takes to make spaghetti? like ten minutes. ten freakin minutes and you can have fresh spaghetti. versus the five minutes it takes to order, pay for, and receive a lamp-treated whopper at burger king

"when I eat an apple, pieces get stuck between my teeth...."

if only you can see your arteries clogging up, what a different world we would live in...

I head my health advice from my son. pravadalush March 16 2004, 21:14:57 UTC
seriously. who knew i could learn a thing or two from a three year old?

I bought him a soccer ball so he could play with his cousins but he says to me "no mommy, i want to play with you". So i teach him everyday. and i take him to the park even if there is a swingset in the backyard. there's more at the playground.

i even take vitamins with him. flinestones vitamins. :)
im even thinking of going back to prenatal vitamins because ive heard that even if you're not pregnant those are the best on the market and a friend of mine who is a personal trainer told me a lot of people who do weight training and a lot of cardio take those. (holy run on sentence, batman!)

that and isaiah like to eat a lot of fruit. they serve that to him at his early developement classes.

i also find it relaxing to cook my food than sit impatiently in my car at the drive thru because Im "in a hurry".

I always learn from children. That's why I love them so much.

And I've been taking prenatal vitamins for a few years now. They're a good vitamin to take during your fertile years.

When I hear people talking about fast food being quick and easy, or that they're too lazy to cook, I just want to remind them how quick and easy it is to prepare an apple, a banana, a bowl of grapes....

I just don't get it

i buy vitamins but i forget to take them. =(

and i never get fast food out of laziness or convience, i just get it when i'm having a serious CRAVING for it. i don't give into it that often, though, because it's expensive and i have barely any cash. that or i'm on campus and i don't have the choice to go home to fix something (it's 20 miles away). i try to pick the best choice (sandwiches mostly). i usually cook for myself when i'm alone - i rarely order out because i'm really cheap. :p

but you're right. people should care more about their health. i'm guilty of not really doing it. shame on me. :( but i'm not against fruit - i had 2 pears today! one this morning and one for a snack a bit ago. i love me some fruit. :) and i have at least 2 servings of vegetables a day...

Well said! I know I fel better for being more active, and that even though I'm really stressed now, there is an end in sight for that.
