Everyone likes music, some people like sharks.

Tonight my fortune cookie said "You will attract cultured and artistic people to your home." I warned my mom about this because guests make her nervous and she likes to have plenty of advanced notice. How will she know how much lasagna to make?! My mom answered me with an annoyed smile because she's mad that I didn't leave her a note about where ( Read more... )

I'm debating whether you're a genious, or just an amazing writer.

And by the way, where are you? I haven't seen you in a billion seconds, which is about 36 years (this info provided by Dr. Math)!

Oh trust me, I know about the strain of brainstorming for LiveJournal entries. And for comments. These audiences are brutal, demanding, well-dressed critics, ready to pounce on you and set your career back five, ten years if given the opportunity to elicit even the slightest, most superficial snicker. Worse still is when they ignore you completely. Bad attention is preferable to no attention at all is what I've always said. And I know. I saw what they did to Anthony Hopkins. I was by his side. He never recovered from the lack of comments he received on that one entry about how he mowed his lawn in the pattern of the stars and stripes in a misguided foray into patriotism. I advised him against it, I reprimanded him when he clicked 'Post Entry,' I pleaded with him to 'Delete Entry,' and it nearly ended our correspondence right then and there. There was this guy that used to work at my radio station. His name is Matt Austin. One day, Matt Austin brought in a carrot cake. Now, you may not know this about me, but I am a fiend for carrot cake. I just love it. He set it on a table, offering it to everyone, and so I dug in (along with three or so other station members). After complementing him on a job well done, he informed us that the carrots used to make the cake were salvaged from a dumpster in the South Side. "Perfectly good carrots, just a few days too old!" he exclaims, somewhat bewildered by the fact that a vendor could possibly throw away carrots that had only turned a few days prior ( ... )
