My jaundice levels aren't improving. My eyes are yellow. My skin is yellow and itching. My sleep is getting worse. My surgeon is away until next Monday.

The operation appears to have gone well. Unlike the first procedure, the implanting of the stent and the theoretically more difficult of the procedures that took 20 minutes, I was on the table for an hour this time. My nice, aggressive tumour has closed off one end of the stent, hence the bile levels rising and the jaundice returns. The surgeon has talked to the head of Radiology and they are both confident that by inserting another stent, and thereby extending the length of the stent they can get it all going again ( Read more... )

Slowly climbing out of the mental and emotional fugue I feel I have been drowning in these last couple of weeks. I find myself crying several times a day - not through fear of death or cancer, though they certainly impact things - but more through the love of family and friends.
