commenting and my FAQ

I've made this post before, but recently it has become increasingly evident that I need to make it again.

If you go through my entries here, please please please only make one or two comments. See, I use Gmail, which groups all my email comments by the livejournal post they are replies to. So the huge flood of comments I get from a new post are

And I don't want to turn my comment emails off in case of questions.

I do occasionally get questions on my older entries that aren't covered on my FAQ.

I don't want to because people might ask questions that need answering. Besides, it's easier on the commenters as well. It's much easier to post one comment listing posts than 15 posts listing what number you took.

I do agree with you about that, but you could turn off comment emailing for future posts.

It's okay on new posts. Like I said, it groups all of those together and the first 50-100 give me an idea of what icons people really like.

It's when people go through each and every post and make a ton of comments that it bugs me. Because I get a seperate email for each post, so it spams me.

I don't comment in the first place, but I do take icons and always, always credit you. Hopefully this is alright, and it doesn't attack your email!

Comments aren't required, no. I sometimes do that as well. I do appreciate them on new posts because they give me an idea of what sort of icons/characters people really like so I can try to do more like them in the future.
For instance, without comments, I never would have believed that my Charlie Brown Christmas icons would be that popular, but it got over 300 comments (which I believe is a record for me) and led me to do It's the Easter Beagle Charlie Brown, since Charlie Brown was apparently in demand. :)
