I really am so sorry about your cake. The reason I always say go with the box is because I share your pain. After having the same thing happen to me several times, I decided to save my money, and my sanity, and just spend $1 for a box cake that turns out perfect everytime. Sometimes life just isn't fair. I wish I could fix it for you.
The frosting looks delicious. Could you email me the recipe? How did your boiled peanuts turn out?

I have a theory!! When baking at high altitudes, you have to tweak the recipe to account for the difference in pressure 9or some such phenomenon.) Maybe this is why your cake fell? It sounds like a delicious recipe. I do agree with mom that box mixes are always the way to go, but I understand why you want to experiment. Perhaps you could become a master pie baker? or muffins!

I want to become a master at cooking everything, lol. But maybe cakes just aren't my thing. I'm gonna look more into the altitude thing though, thanks :)
