One girl at work told me she wants to lose 30 lbs. She currently weighs 113 or so. After picking my jaw up from the floor I told her she would then weigh 83lbs. Okay, well maybe she'd just lose 15lbs then ( Read more... )

From my perspective, this situation has little to do with actual men. Most men do not think underweight women are attractive. Women who are underweight and try to lose weight are usually told my men to gain weight. Women like that have somehow internalized some standard of beauty that no one actually holds.

Right, but my point is that men find confidence attractive and self-criticism unattractive. So, they are putting all this thought into trying to impress men by doing exactly the wrong thing.

Beyond that, one should not live to impress others anyway, but if one is going to try to impress others, they should do so in a non-counterproductive way.

so all those strippers who are underweight aren't attractive? men don't dish out money like it's only paper to see these women dance on poles naked because of their confidence level on stage. the media suggests that women become and remain as thin as humanly possible otherwise they are looked down upon. and if this is news to you, then as open as your mind is one way, you should open it up in another direction. maybe not accepting it, but recognizing it at least that this is a common feeling between both sexes.

You may feel barely ready for life, but the fact is that you're a confident, capable, beautiful, incredible woman who knows her own worth and that is damn more ready than most people. So let us be ambassadors for women's self-love, someone has to be because we sure aren't getting any support from the majority of the world's populace.
