I'm grumpy for no apparent reason right now. I want to read a book, but I don't really want to go back a finish the one I started before I picked up the last book I read. I also don't feel like reading anything that's on my shelf right now. Can't go get any new books until after payday on Friday ( Read more... )

rant, rambles

Hah, your family ignores your suggestions for gifts too, huh? Mine like to ask me what I want, but when I tell them, I always seem to receive stuff like candles or gift cards to places I don't visit often instead of the CD,Book,Movie or just plain gift of cash I suggested when they quizzed me.

Funny how that works, isn't it?

I know with my parents (or at least my mom who does the shopping) it's because she thinks I have too many books/movies already. With hubby's family they don't really consider books to be "gift worthy". At least with the last gift card from my parents for my birthday (and hubby's birthday) they were to places we visit (Target and Game Stop). I used the Target one to get some shorts and a new swimsuit.

I have a gift from my SIL that I keep meaning to list on ebay. It't the Dragony dragon Worbn. I had pointed out things in a display case that I liked and he wasn't one of them. XD

Hahahaha! Books not gift-worthy... Riiiight! And there's no such thing as having too many books or movies.

One year, my brother gave me the Sandmans, and the next, the Preachers. Then he said to me, I'm sick of always giving you books, to which I answered: Since you don't give me the same one over and over, it's fine with me!

As for reading, you can go there: http://ebookstore.sony.com/category/bargain-priced, download the free software and check the bargain-priced section. There's always a variety of free ebooks there. The only drawback is that you have to read onscreen. But it's free!

I know to people who love books they are very much gift worthy items. I've slowed down considerably on my book buying and weeded out books I don't ever expect to read again. I still have three bookshelvess of fiction with the majority of the books turned sideways to fit more in. There aren't any books double stacked right now so there is always room for more (aside from the fact that there are two nearly empty shelves.

I may have to give an e-reader a chance eventually, but there's just something to be said about having the book in your hands.

Our Walmart doesn't have much of a craft department either--just like yours, it only has yarn, and not even very much of that.

I've been struggling with sleep the last few nights myself. My back and hip have been acting up, but mostly in the middle of the night. Last night I had some chamomile tea though and that really helped.

It's really annoying that the majority of the craft department is devoted to scrapbooking. If I was a scrapbooker I'd be in hog heaven, but I'm not a scrapbooker so I'm in my own little section on hell.

I've been drained and had a headache all day so I'm hoping that going to bed "early" will take care of both problems.
