Research topic update

I am no longer investigating Black-footed cats. Apparently their tendency to die of nephritis is a little over my head in this masters program. I need something I can figure out within 1.5 years. So I will be returning to the wild world of large felines: Jaguars, pumas, cheetahs, or snow leopards... hmmm....

Does anyone have a preference?

I prefer you do whatever makes you happy. Although the snow leopards might be hard to see in snow :)

It would make the most sense for you to study the puma, since it has the most occurance in N. America out of the list of cats you have. In terms of conservation, you might want some field experience in their habitat and the puma would make for the easiest to study. There's only so much you can get from books.

thought you might want to read this thing about the Cat genome.

Thanks for passing that on, I'm glad they decoded the cats. I love genetics!
