OMG Thats great Ryan and I have totally had that conversation that it IS a filler as in using like or um and I think it is odd... I agree with it all!

I don't have a problem with Father God, although I do take your point. What seems like filler to me is when people say "Jesus" or "God" or "Father" or whatever every third word.

haha wow i never thought about that...hm wouldn't that be weird if instead of saying umm or, uhh, we'd fill our awkward silences with father god? "...And that's my story...fathergodfahtergodfathergod..." haha thats odd. yay i finally made a livejournal so i could go on a comment craze :)

Cool, so we're making fun of the way people pray?

then what about addressing Jesus or the Holy Sprit in prayer? I'm not sure if there's biblical precedence for that. unless I'm wrong, the Holy Sprit is never addressed directly, and Jesus Himself prayed to God the Father.....

That's an interesting point... maybe I'll look into it and blog about it.

My point is more wondering where the phrase "Father God" comes from and why it is sometimes used frequently in prayer.

Stephen said "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." Acts 7:59
Revelations 22:20 - "Come, Lord Jesus."

... Bryan is looking for Holy Spirit references.
