The Last Post?

I've reached the point of pointlessness where LiveJournal is concerned. Everyone's gone to FaceBook. My sister Cathrine rang me yesterday morning, to see how JB was-Anna is one of her FB friends. I told her that she (and others on FaceBook) are probably more up to date with Anna's news than I am, even though I see her every day. I have a ( Read more... )

I won't go to FaceBook - doesn't Rupertt Murdoch own it..? If so - he can re-use your content with impunity

BTW - the news is bad... Redundancies are being announced tomorrow, including two full time equivalents at this library... Everyone's using the toilet more often...

HOWEVER - have got my Tui ticket for New Year, so...

I read the last post. I just didn't have anything more enlightening to say than "wow, that's pretty cool". ;)

Never heard of viruses on FB. Spammers and trolls, sure, but you can block them, and you don't have to publish your email address (though even if you do, I think it displays it as an image so it can't be copied by bots).

The main problem with FB is that it's very very easy to waste an awful lot of time.

Mind you, you'll have severe problems with FB on dial-up.

You can go to lite.facebook.com, which doesn't have the photos or nearly as much of the guff. It loads a lot quicker on my work computer than regular facebook.

I've never had viruses either, though I do have virus-protection software. I've never had anything get through that. And although you have to give facebook your email address, I never include it in posts or messages - I always use [punctuation][dot]

I don't much care if Rupert Murdoch gets my content. What can he do to me? I have nothing to hide. And I am quite capable of saying "no" to anything unwanted that comes my way.

I've got an email address I use exclusively for online stuff-LJ, Wikipedia and suchlike. It's never got overloaded, and I can always change it if I have to.
