But... that makes no logical sense! I mean, clearly, he can't force you to actually marry the bloke, and wouldn't it just be more scandalous afterwards when you inevitably "break" the engagement, and reflect badly upon him? I mean, there are hypothetically plenty of excuses he could have used. He could've said that you were studying abroad, or in the Peace Corps, or... well, a lot of things.
And really, considering what we all just went through in the last several weeks, he should be PROUD of you!
