I joined LJ because Comrade Rick created a Red Elvises fan community here, and I wanted to be able to post comments to it. There isn't much action there, so I got used to checking the "Friends" section, just to see what other RE fans were up to. Every now and then, I comment on someone's post. I recently pissed somebody off, because they made a ( Read more... )

you can post where ever you want - some people have it where only friends can post but if they don't then they have to deal with whoever posts. Some people are just too oversensitive ;)

Thank you, Lumi...I that was how it worked, but wasn't totally sure. The fella I pissed off has deleted my comment, and his replies to it, but if you have the slightest curiosity about it and want to see the pre-deletion text, send your addy to: crankscorner(at)hotmail.com; it's worth a giggle. (But maybe you saw it all before it was taken down?) Someone else sent me a reply to this, but it was screened, and I had no luck unscreening it, so just attempted a direct reply. Actually, I'm amazed anyone saw this post at all! Have fun on the night shift....

Commenting on someone's journal from the same community isn't a "no-no", but you don't have to be rude either.

Thanks for your reply; I tried to unscreen this last night, but didn't understand that I had to be in my own journal to do so, and attempted to send you a reply via e-mail instead. I hope you received it; if not, I'll just repeat here that I wasn't trying to be rude to him, merely stating, as he requested, "what I really thought," complete with disclaimers as to why my opinion shouldn't be taken too seriously. He responded with a great deal of anger and profanity, but has since removed my comment, and his replies to it, from the post that started it all, leaving nothing but positive opinions and compliments. I now understand, too late, that those are all he really wanted in the first place.

Again, thank you for your reply; wrestling with it has improved my extremely meager LJ skills.
