I have always struggled with who I thought should play Eddie. He's actually a lot younger than he comes across, I think (he's younger than Susanna, but I can't remember how old...23?) but he's got that maturity about him, even in the earlier books, so he'd have to have a lot of gravity. Is it. Is it too obvious to say PJ? Yeah, and also, eh, too old probably.
I agree a lot about Gina Torres, she would be awesome. I like Zoe Saldana too, but she doesn't have the intensity needed for that role, I think.
I just pray they pick a good Jake. I mean, it's essential. One bad child actor will ruin the whole thing (I can't stand bad child actors), and Jake is my favourite character. He's the emotional heart of the entire series, if he isn't perfect I will cry and cry.
What's nice, is that jake ages, significantly through the series... which will be nice for filming. I think when we finally get to read DT 8, we're going to see that they spent an extremely large amount of time between Topeka and The Calla. He appears to be closer to 14 or 15 by the time the series ends, not the 10 years old that he starts off at.
I agree, I think PJ could pull off Eddie like a pro, but he def looks too old for the character. Same on Jake. I was trying to think of who I'd cast as Jake but I got nothing, since I don't really know any child actors. It was rather telling my first thought was Elijah Wood from back in his days as North (then I realized that was like 15 years ago =_=).
I can't wait to see what they do with Oy too. God, I loved Oy so much.
