Sad to say, but righteous anger and a genuine willingness to risk your life waging revolution for your ideals is usually like competing on American Gladiators, or modeling, or Olympic gymnastics, or fucking five times a day with no drugs. It's biological and hormonal and you have to be in that 13-25 age range or you just don't have it in you.

Trouble is, no one else really gives a shit whether you do any of that other stuff, but we really fucking need people to fight for justice, even when the entrenched plutocrats benefiting from injustice make sure fighting it isn't convenient.

I agree that the US has a hell of a lot more worth fighting against now than it did in 1999, although the sweatshop economy was well under way by then. And I don't think consumerism alone is any worse than, say, stamp collecting. It's the things consumerists tend to lack that bug me, like curiosity, awareness, empathy, charity, and conscience.

maybe the genuine willingness to risk ones life is age-specific, but righteous anger? you think so? ive been around plenty of old people who are plenty pissed about plenty of real injustices. but their reactions are much more peaceful or they don't have any at all (for the most part ( ... )

the easiest way to find out is if we go to the same show, separately. if we enjoy each others company we can go to more. if not, we dont.
