Totally cheating here. I took a bunch during a spontaneous hike Sunday after lunch with fantabulous friends. The weather was a wonderful misty rain, cool, smelling of spring earth and surrounded by the noise of the creek burbling and birds staking out their territories ( Read more... )

I'm jealous of your ability to take gorgeous pictures when it is overcast. Very romantic and.. oh, I'm at a loss for the correct word.. ethereal?

What sort of rig are you using for all this?

A beat-to-hell Canon Rebel (300D, the original I believe), 18-55mm lens, polarizer.

I'm not going to laugh. Until about three years ago, I was using an ancient Pentax ME film rig and lugging around a 10+ pound camera bag full of Pentax manual focus lenses and such. I would probably still be using it if my last 30 year old body had not clocked out. I got tired of buying replacements off eBay, so I went in the polar opposite direction and got an ultra compact Sony DSC-T9. The picture quality is excellent, but I can't reach out and grab a shot like I could with my Pentax 80-200mm zoom. Meh...one day I really should get my best body fixed so I can relive the nostalgic, pain in the ass, film experience. It really is a shame to have all those fine lenses gathering dust.

So, you are proving the point that it is not the age of the hardware, but the skill of the person handling it. :)

Where can you find a darkroom nowadays though? And I have to admit, ultra tiny/light is pretty appealing when you're taking the camera pretty much everywhere.

Are you going Friday? I am *not* touching alcohol this time.
