Loved seeing Mary's face with her hair pulled back. I don't know why, probably because you get a more intense look at what really matters then and are not being distracted by that beautiful mane of hers. ;)

But the eye make-up was a bit too much for my liking.

I wouldn't be able to watch this show regularly, because that character is fluttering all around and interfering with my zen.

Halfway through the episode I was ready for a tranquilizer gun. Maybe that woman should lay off the caffeine a bit ;)

"Okay. Here is your evidence." - "Is that everything?" - "Oh Gosh, I hope so!"

That one really made me laugh out loud!

Hey, at least they backed off the eye-shadow in that last scene. ;)

To shoot it or to be hit by it? *g*

Very good advise! Or the show should get some additional warning for that part of the audience that has a hard time watching hectic characters do hectic things. You know, like those warnings for movies/computer games where there is the danger of a a cerebral overload due to the high number of picture changes per second or whatever they call that.

Both. First hit me so that my hands are steady enough to shoot her ;)

LOL. Good idea!

I liked the little detail of having her change glasses in the interrogation scene. Strange, I know, but I liked it.

Also, I had a feeling that the goading she did of the one skinhead was intentional, to make him bang his face onto the table. She took the picture afterward, but I think it was to show that it was "self-inflicted" to protect the department. Yeah, it happened beforehand, but by her doing that, she possibly saved them a lawsuit issue for the lack of medical attention. I wish there had been some acknowledgment of that.

Then, having her say "eat me" multiple times was classic.

I'm really glad you pointed that out. (The glasses AND the goading.) I noticed that too.

Interesting you remark on this, because there have been a few moments, both in this episode and in the 5x03 episode, where I thought there were glimpses of more layers for her character, but it was never followed up on really and the missed opportunities are driving me a little nuts. I was assuming there would be more depth in this second episode, but not so much. Not sure if I should be holding my breath for # 3.

Oy, the flags.

I've watched The Closer previously too so I share your understanding of (and probably frustrations with) Brenda. Raydor as Brenda's 'pupil'? Didn't think to categorise it that way but it's an apt description. I too was annoyed with Brenda's 100% rightness here. No fun having an antagonist then. It is jarring not see Mary kicking ass when you know she would and could! They're not exactly making Raydor bad at her job, but Brenda's made to look more competent as her assumptions always turn out to be right.

And I wish they would at least have allowed Cpt. Raydor to actually do her job, with all its consequences - if she had failed then, I wouldn't mind.

Yes, well put. It didn't matter who was right or wrong in the end, but it felt like it was written in utter favour of Brenda and her team, if that makes sense. A serious look at the other side or further shades of grey were missing.

"Also, the general ignorance towards one of the criminals trying to kill the other in the car, rubbed me the wrong way."
Oh, yes! I thought it was appalling (but realistic? but then Brenda & her team are presented as almost saintly cops!) that that was allowed to happen, and distasteful that it was more or less implied that the audience would be rooting for that kind of thing. Um, NO!

I am hoping for some kind of Raydor character arc, but unfortunately so far she's just presented as a static antagonist. I would have loved if she'd been the catalyst for some much needed Brenda reflection, or if they were able to bond over some common ground/beliefs because I do think they exist.

OCD= obsessive compulsive disorder but you know I'm just kidding about that!

YES! Exactly. I wasn't quite sure why it put me off so much, because we have seen stuff like that in other shows/movies before. But I think you have a point saying that it was pretty much implied that the audience would be on their side here, and I think this is what *really* rubbed me the wrong way.

With, apparently, only 1 more episode left (so far), I'm not very optimistic that they will shed much more light on her character. Unless they intend to keep her around for more guest appearances.

*nods in agreement*

*lol* I blame the vidding!

*facebook-less* Seems I miss all the fun. ;)

Or, you know, we can just start to add in the 'Lesson Learned' music in the background at the end of every and a witty monologue recapping the entire show.

*chuckle* Good way to sum it up! This was exactly how it felt.
