At least your job suggestions are law-related. The last time Ian was unemployed his mom told him that she heard UPS was hiring for the Christmas rush, and when I was unemployed she told me she saw a job listing for a receptionist in the local paper.

Haha. When Chris was applying to business school, he used to get all sorts of random, unhelpful comments that were meant to be helpful. "Why don't you go to Columbia? That's a good school." "Why don't you get a job at Goldman Sachs instead?" Ohhh, okay, thanks.

Okay, so I've been thinking about this. One: Ian got his first job out of college by cold-calling places like this. It's ballsy and you have to be able to handle people on the phone saying "No, idiot, what makes you think we would?" but there you have it. Two: If this is in fact the kind of job you would want, it might make sense to look up who the lawyers are and try to get an informational interview with one of them. Not for a job, but to ask them about their careers and how they got to where they are. Again, you have to put yourself out there, but people who put themselves out there are people who get jobs. Worth a shot.
