Strictly on a visual basis the top one is easier to read.

OK, one more change. Dropped the big blood drop, and added a small one (with a real subtle cross wound) where the C impales the V.

The shade of yellow on the glow is too green-- it's a kinda of a sickly yellow, if you know what I mean.

I like the glow, though. I'd maybe diminish it's size, and tweak the color a bit.
