I agree with everything you say in this review, and as usual, you have insights to which I was completely blind. I never made the connection that of course Lionel's abuse of Lex would now be crystal clear in Clark's mind because of what he saw in Lex's memories in Fracture. That really was a good moment of continuity, which we've had like never before in recent episodes

I just loved Clark saying something referencing what he saw in "Fracture" so it would put an end to all of the "he'll forget by next week!" kind of stuff, you know? He obviously hasn't forgotten.
I just don't understand why they have to make Clark the most unhappiest person ever. He deserves to ba happy so badly, and I want that for him.
This season has been so relentlessly dark that there seriously better be a payoff for it in the end. I can see what they're trying to do, but a little humor would go a long way.
Even though I think it would've made previous seasons' storylines more logical had we already known about Veritas, I think it'll be interesting to rewatch the entire show knowing what we know now. It does add an interesting layer to the story and puts a twist on things we know or thought we knew. This Veritas retcon is driving me nuts - in a good way. I think. I'm dying to know how long they had this in mind... at what point they decided on this. I'm not so deluded as to think they had it in mind from the beginning; but I'm really curious to know at what point they plunked it down in the writers' room as "goalpost," and if it was before the planning out for Season 7

//As I said. It's driving me nuts... and I'm not sure whether it's in a good way or a bad way!//
Heh, exactly. I'll be starting s4 this week, and I'm actually excited about it because I want to see how much of this ties in with Veritas and if it answers any of the questions s4 left unanswered.
And now all of the Luthor/Teague interaction makes more sense now as well.
Well, you know I'm with you on the Clark stuff. And its not even just this season. Its the last 3 seasons. For Christ Sakes, what the hell is wrong with these writers?
I don't think Lana even remotely deserved what happened to her. Deserved to have her relationship with Clark end a few eps ago? Yes, I agree with that. Deserve to be so horribly attacked by Brainiac? No, not even close. I can understand not being able to work up sympathy, but I don't get the glee. In fact, I think the whole situation is awful, all around.
Clark really has had a crappy year! Sometimes I think that the showrunners don't know how to tell an origin heroe story well, particularly w/o making the heroe's life crappy and angst filled.
Hopefully there are some brighter better times ahead for Clark and Co.

Right. I know life isn't exactly easy, but Clark gets more than his share of tough breaks.

I'm not overly fond of the Veritas plot line. :(
