I loved that line from Tara!

Still reading, although I confess to having skimmed certain parts before diving in. :)

I had to post that one, even though I usually love the funny bits most. It was the most epic line ever. And so true.

I didn't skim. I couldn't wait though, and went through like a Juggernaut. :D

squee indeed! anonymous May 7 2013, 20:56:10 UTC
Sookie talking to her breasts was the ultimate line! I love that CH always makes me laugh out loud multiple times during a book.

I figured CH would be able to pull it off and I think she did quite well. Sadly, no Bubba and very little Pam.

The Southern Vampire Mysteries ended with not a lot of vampires.... which I guess bookends the series in a way.

Excellent read - looking forward to discussing it more!

I giggled all the way through - even though the first part was pretty bleak. I think she did well too.

No Bubba and little Pam - they were replaced by the strange and weird Karin. Lol. I like her a lot. And looking at Sookie's future as a vampire is pretty unappetising.

I first want to say that I didn't get as much of my Pam fix. But I do love that she wanted to be Sookies friend..although I have a feeling that Eric will always keep a eye on her....lol. I love Karin she is crazy but funny. I knew it had to be a vamp to put CoCo in the hidey hole.

I do see that Eric did make his choice. I have always wondered how in the world would they be together. I am happy that he made his choice. Although I did lol when Bill told her about Eric. I do believe sookie knows that Eric did what was best for him.But he is protecting her in the only way he could. I love how he tried to cock block Sam.

I also loved that she realized that she was loved and had support from her town. That she finally felt accepted.
She always thought she was looked at as some crazy lady. It warmed my heart.

Thanks for posting I was getting annoyed from all the bad crap on amazon. I feel like you get it unlike other not so opened minded people : )

I didn't either. Although we got to see her a little bit. Mind you, give me a book full of Pam and I'd clamour for more. I thought Karin was pretty awesome.

He did pretty clearly make a choice. Even Felipe said that he was "giving up" something grand with his fairy blood wife. So you know, if anyone wanted to stick the knife in, it would be Felipe. Eric trying to cockblock Sam? That's Eric main preoccupation - without him in Louisiana, even if it doesn't work out with Sam, Sookie will be able to date more freely. He's a spiteful bastard though.

I think she always has had that, but this time, it came out for her. It wasn't the whole town per say, but the people who've always been good to her, like Maxine Fortenberry.

Oh, you just can't go many places post book release. At least with this journal, I don't have to hop off the internet all together.

Glad you liked it! anonymous May 7 2013, 21:26:25 UTC
I'm only at 3 of 5 stars because I had some issues with the actual writing. I was really disappointed with the third-party narration ( ... )

Personally for me, I felt that some of the midway scenes were a little tough to read. But that was mainly because being in Sookie's head waiting for it all to drop on her head was just as tough for me as it was for Sookie. Waiting for the kick in the chest that *I* knew was going to happen to her. But as far as I'm concerned, that was CH showing us that terrible wait, rather than telling us. People differ on the amount of show vs. tell, but I think it's fine the way she did it ( ... )

Two quick thoughts 1) there's a lot more Eric in the book than those passages where he physically appears/is named, as there are multiple interactions between Sookie and other characters that clearly illustrate what problems S/E had and would continue to have, and 2) there seems to be a lot of interaction between Sookie and other characters in which the roles could easily be reversed between Sookie and the other, or that illustrated parallels between her and the other character that I hadn't noticed before. Oh, and there's a lot of stuff making it explicit just how much Sookie *has* changed, contrary to predictions. So, three quick things, really. :)

I agree - there's as much Eric as any other book. And you're right that Sookie and other characters have similar interactions. You get the feeling that there's finally enough people clued into what's going on with her.

I think there is a lot about how she's changed. I suspect the predictions are just not happy because rather than grovel to everyone, she's become tougher. This is according to them "not character growth" because apparently, you can only change to be *more* accommodating, rather than less likely to put up with bullshit.
