Aw man, I wish teenage boys didn't eat so damn much. I spend half of my free time either shopping for them, or preparing something to eat. It would be nice if I could starve them to death, but I've put in so much work already to quit now, and they complain a lot. Hence why their squeaky wheel gets the grease. Still no print book, although happily,

"But as it turns out, none of the Pack show up - only Alcide." - I wondered about this, too. They probably are wary, but I also think in Alcide's mind as packmaster, he is the pack. If he's there standing up for someone, it's the pack standing up for someone. Plus, Sookie and Alcide are going to be perceived as more on the same level at this point than she is to the pack members. I made a few notes as I read about places where Sookie struck me as acting in a manner very similar to that of a Sheriff or packmaster, I'll have to dig those up.

Lol - I think she's tried to make herself so clear so many times, this is when she's had enough. Drawing those dots *real* close...:D
Well, I would presume that he's down that way for something else. In the last two books, that's why he's at Sookie's - and he always has other weres with him - either Annabelle, Jannalynn or Roy. So Alcide being alone makes me think that some of the pack are scared. Combined with the fact that Weres who've tried to do bad stuff to Sookie ended up dead (like Patrick Furnan and Basim) well, that doesn't make a Were feel safe.
And yes! But there's also bigger themes than that too. I'm going to have to just go for it, because the more I re-listen, the bigger they get.

And thank you for these posts. I truly love it when you take bits and pieces and turn them around for us to look at. I learn a lot and I love seeing things in new shades. Your posts also make me like the books even more (which is sorely needed because I just read something CH wrote on her discussion forum and I didn`t like that all that much - it shouldn`t influence how I look at the books but I can feel that it does and that annoys me. Your posts are a kick in the other direction). So I hope you`ll keep on doing that for ... the next 200 years, perhaps (I have this nice little contract for you to sign here :-D).
I really wonder how safe Sookie is now. You`ve shown here that she`s safer than she`s been in a long time but I am looking forward to the coda to see more of Sookie`s future. I don`t *need* for CH to tell me that Sookie is safe and will live a long and prosperous life but it would still be nice to know :-D

Oh, was that her remark about how she doesn't like fanfic? She once likened it to wearing someone else's underpants. :D I'm pretty sure she means that she doesn't like reading it or writing it herself - but she doesn't have animosity to the writers of it. Considering the sledging that happens in fanfic, she's pretty cool about it all. Much like True Blood - let them do their own things with her characters - live and let live.
I'm not signing no damn contract! I don't need any cluviel dor out clause - I'm more stubborn than Eric on the whole autonomy thing. :D
I think she's relatively safe - as safe as she can be. I think the important part now is that it's all up to her. So she can participate if she wants, and none of the supes have the wherewithal to really force it. And now who wants a more neat ending, huh? :D

I actually took Sookie's calling Kenya when she sensed Claude as a "I don't need to be framed for anything else, I need whitnesses!" rather than a call for help. And I took the calling Andy about the tape as being sensibly demonstrating to the police that she was being framed. Maybe I'm just too cynical.
I did love the way Sookie's life just sorted itself out with this book - she has her independence, a guy who will respect what SHE wants and who can protect them both if needed.

I think it was both. But she also didn't mind calling out for the bouncer to help her out at the end, and she abided the guy who had to kill even though he didn't want to. I think that's part of the change in her - realising that there's a time to be selfish - and it's when you get attacked.
Sam's pretty excellent for that. It just sort of fell into place, and I was so pleased that I low-balled what I thought CH would do. Makes me happy that it was so much better than what I envisioned.
