the night is cold
the room is empty
but my thoughts are full of you

my mind is busy
my life is hurried
but to you i swear it's true

under tired lids
over brightened screens
my brain holds all but naught

of hugs and dreams
bursting at the seams
of my cold and tired heart

i wrote this as a response to something one of my friend's friends said. they had been talking about the elections in the USA, and in the heat of the moment, he made a comment that seemed to denounce female rights. he probably didn't think through what he had said before actually saying it, so i don't hold any anger towards him.

my grandmother is in the hospital

and immediately i am told that
my grandmother is in the hospital

i could choose to say i'm sorry
for all the fatigue that is still
fighting through my words
for the death that seeps
through my messages
but instead i say i love you
because you're tired
and i hope you know
how much i do
