This sentimental determinist movie is basically about an introverted man and an alcoholic woman falling in love and then deciding to erase one another from their respective memories. Apparently they are soul mates, though, and end up back together anyway ( Read more... )

Just because they argued doesn't mean they weren't meant to be. I know that the one person that I have dated in the past and probably would have married have argued before. Also, I think that the cliche relationship is much akin to what most people experience in a good portion of their relationships. Could be me, but I know I can relate to a lot of that movie.

To some extent it was clishe, but I dunno what's clishe with a death fetish. I thought the begining of their relationship was authentically akward and aborted, and the scene where they are too poor to pay for the drive in, so they sit outside and make up their own lines was cute ( ... )

i saw all of the psychological analysis you gave them, but thanks for spelling it out. you did clear up for me the golem thing.

i still, however, think it's a poorly reconstructed vanilla-sky (abres los ojos) type of thing, with some laughable scenes, and some images and quotes thrown in just for "artsy" quality.

i don't know...i can see why people liked it, but i found it a movie trying to be something meaningful and deep in the way that donnie darko or another dark mood cult-ish movie are, but simply placing beautiful cinemetography around a skeletal story (and skeletal characters).
