Was a whirlwind five day trip to Long Beach.

Got in Wednesday night and managed to catch the end of the Long Beach Crew's weekly Wednesday night dinner. We were celebrating Liberty's birthday, and Theresa made a fab carrot cake for the occasion.

Last night I had trouble falling asleep because of the coughs, but I did not wake up once due to a coughing fit! It's nice to be seeing some progress in the right direction.

The $32 bottle of cough syrup prescribed by the doc turned out to be a waste of money, and so far I have seen no effect from the antibiotics. Yes, I am still sleeping sitting up, and still waking up several times a night from fits of coughing. I am desperately looking forward to a good night of uninterrupted sleep.

This is a sad day for me, but I think I might be moving away from using LJ. I hate logging in because of the intrusive ads. I could pay for LJ, but I'm not sure why I'd pay for a blogging service when there are so many free ones out there that don't even ask you to watch a 30-second ad before you log in. Well, I did manage to get a few hours of fitful sleep in the end. The doctor thinks it's a bacterial infection and gave me some antibiotics and some stronger night cough medicine. I really hope it manages to quell the cough and knock me out. Tried to take a nap today without the new cough medicine, but my lungs said, "I don't think so."

It's 1 am, and though I was drowsy just five minutes ago, I cannot sleep. I've had a racking cough all week that becomes unbearable the minute I lie down. Nyquil got me through Monday and Tuesday nights, but suddenly the cough suppresant stopped working even though it still made me drowsy. Phew. Have spent most of the past four hours with the puppy. First of all the dog can barely go 30 minutes without peeing, so I've probably spent 15 minutes of every hour outside with her on the leash.
