No matter where you were, shopping anywhere else would never quite amount to shopping in New York City, and Charlotte had almost thought that, really, she should be taking Irulan there, but her nose for brand names lead them to the much closer Chevy Chase. "That dress is gorgeous," Irulan said then added, "you're right we can't leave without looking at shoes. I am in need of shoes!"

"Always in need of shoes!" Charlotte agreed with a little bit of a laugh, obviously forgetting that she had a whole closet in her apartment dedicated just to shoes. It was one of the walk-in closets, too. When she designed the place, she designed a lot of closets.

"One of these days," she vowed, "I'm going to have to get you to New York to do this."

"You seem to really love New York, I went out on a school trip outside of the island although I couldn't recall if it was New York we went to," Irulan said then a dress caught her eye. "Do you think this would suit me?"
