Saint Clements Castle; Portland, Connecticut, Saturday [ 08/08 ]. -- Reception.

Aug 08, 2009 11:16

The main event was finished (and not even...too much of a disaster...right?) and now it was time to fully celebrate the happy new couple, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Cooper.

With a lot of drinks, a lot of food, some dancing and hopefully nothing weird. The reception rooms of the Saint Clements were impeccably decorated and welcoming, and it was sure to be ( Read more... )

Arrive and Mingle -- 08/08. perfectmissyork August 8 2009, 15:26:02 UTC
Because, while it isn't far from where the ceremony took place, there's still some mingling to be had before dinner, drinks to be gotten from the open bar, and people who show up just for the reception that weren't at the wedding, ahem.

Reese made it to the reception and surprise, surprise she wasn't wearing her usual cop clothes. In fact, she managed to wrangle a dress from somewhere and even look nice.

She didn't look like a cop at all that is if you don't look in her evening bag where one might find a gun and a badge.

"Hi there," Biff said, smiling brightly at her. "Friend of the bride or groom?"

"The groom," Reese answered, "sorta, Dale's my boss. Former boss."

Wedding Party Table -- 08/08. perfectmissyork August 8 2009, 15:29:21 UTC
The big, long, important table at the front of the hall where the newlyweds and their wedding party sit and people bang their silverware on glasses to get the couple to kiss at really inappropriate food-in-their-mouths moments.

There were not words enough for how relieved Charlotte was that at least the caterer hadn't also gotten piss-ass drunk and left her to have nothing but a Klingon meal to go with her Klingon wedding.

And champagne. Lots and lots of champagne and wine and then there would be Cosmos, oh yes, there would.

For now, though, eating and talking and reveling in being Mrs. Dale Cooper while trying to not get any food on her dress.

"Here's to you Mrs. Cooper," Dale said raising a small personal toast to her. "Did you think our wedding day would be so interesting?"

Charlotte tried to give Dale a little glare as she lifted her glass in response, but, really, she couldn't put any heat at all behind it. The bottom line was that, even with how things turned out, it ended so, so well. And it was going to be impossible to really be upset about anything being called Mrs. Cooper.

"I was hoping it wouldn't be," she said, "but I can't really complain."

Feel free to start a table, and have people ping in to being assigned to that table, too, since there is a seating arrangement, but we shall leave it up to the whims of...whimsy. Enjoy the wonderful dinner menu offered.

Her name was on one of the cards and so she sat down and prepared to enjoy her meal. "The food looks delicious."

The moment Turtle had found the placard with her name on it, her eyes went wide and she snatched it up quick, looked around to make sure no one was watching, and ripped it up. She put the pieces in with the little sugar packet wrappers she'd used to make her coffee bearable.

It had said Tabitha-Ruth! How did they know?

Then again, Sheriff Cooper had figured out the braid thing, so she probably shouldn't be that surprised.

Speeches! -- 08/08. perfectmissyork August 8 2009, 15:32:10 UTC
For the bridesmaids and groomspeople....or anyone else who might have a word or two to say...to give a speech for the new married couple.

Jack wove his way up to the microphone and lifted his glass of rum high. "What a lovely wedding! I love weddings! Especially ones with swords involved, so full marks for that. The last wedding I went to was full of swords and very low on rum, so I appreciate the excellent balance the two of you have struck between violence 'n libations. Good for you! To--" he absolutely blanked on the names, "Donald and Charlene! Drinks all 'round!"

Yakko stood on his chair, clapped, and whistled at the end of the speech. It deserved a good reaction.

Irulan clapped but was, again, puzzled. "Who are Donald and Charlene?"

The Cake -- 08/08. perfectmissyork August 8 2009, 15:35:16 UTC
Because of course there has to be a wedding cake! Which is very beautiful and might possibly end up smashed in the bride's face, which means the bride might have to regret not actually cutting the groom with that weapon earlier.
