I'm ambivalent about posting a pic. I really enjoy the faceless anonimity of the Internet. Seems so much more of a challenge to engage someone's attention with only words, relying on your capability to intrique by conjuring images, not providing them with pictures. But I feel as though I have to put up something. So, what should I do? Go the easy ( Read more... )

Sounds like fun! I'm always ready for a Mai Tai....is it okay if I wear my bathrobe, though? I'm kinda shy.

Don't sweat the pic, kiddo. With a "Free Account" you can upload up to three icons....so why not go for variety? (I've got ass-kickin' Varla, a chihuahua, and a doctored pic of myself) Besides, you can always delete your pics if you change your mind. If you can't handle sharing pics of yourself, find something goofy (or profound) that speaks to you. Doesn't have to be Bettie Page. How 'bout Betty White? Betty Ford? Betty from "Archie Comics"?

Or you could always just remain a faceless LJ enigma. Sometimes it's fun to be a woman of mystery....

Miss Varla, you should have a column. You are right and have inspired me to pull out some favorite images to peruse. Thanks for the support, just as I was beginning to think no one was reading and I was shouting into a void. Now go crank up that Pat Benatar and shake that cleavage down! Check on my pics in the next cpl of days?

How did I post this twice? And how do I erase it to reduce my doofus status in the face of my readers?

Yeah, I've gone back and forth on the matter myself. But part of me always goes back to wanting to post a snap. I think part of the reason is that I am a photographer and love photos, in general. The main reason is that I always find myself a bit annoyed if I go to a page and there are none available. And there is that superficial part of me that will see certain images and it will solidify my feelings of non-interest. I suppose that's bad, but oh well.

I guess in the end it does always come back down to the journals themselves.

Yes- but this LJ thing is about more than journals in the traditional sense. This is redefining the concept and if I want to be part of the real essence of it I need to get with it for exactly the reasons you pointed out. I,too, am visually oriented and want images as you do. You are right. And have you gotten any info about The Pedophile Portal to Hell? I hope not. But if you ever get down Charleston way I will introduce you to the man who (literally) wrote the book on hauntings in this very, old haunted city.Big time. There's one story about a picture of a ghost that gave miscarriages to every woman who touched the pic.Scary shit. Come on down.

I haven't gotten anymore information, but I haven't persued too much. I'm pretty sure that I could dig it up if I really wanted to. I mean, my family lives up there and what not. But I won't be up that way for at least a year.

I would like to come down and do some investigations. Take a trip through the south, Mississippi, Louisiana,... it's just one of those things that are hard to understand. Are ghosts and spirits real? Are they souls or energy or once living individuals? Is is really a portal from another universe?

And, no, I don't believe in aliens and I don't watch the X-Files ;)

My theory perfectstranger May 11 2001, 13:47:04 UTC
I think some houses, places, are like batteries that gat stored with energy that can't leave for whatever reason.A friend of mine was sleeping in a house built by her bf's g.g.g.father in Little Switzerland, in the mts. of NC. She awoke to an image of herself on the wall, as if being projected. When she rolled over, the image of herself rolled over. As if she were being taped or recorded. Figure that one out.

I broke down and did it (well, had a friend do it). I posted three pictures (the allotted amount). But I figured that I'd default the picture of my dog. It's silly and I'm still a bit anon., unless one is curious enough to try to see.

Your turn!
