stop offending my idols!

ain't nuthin' wrong wit a bit o' kenny g in anyone's life...i can still remember my glee, the day i purchased his cassette, G Force.

was carefully hidden, escaping war,
the treasure hunters, fifty-year feuds.

sitting upright
buried in Anuradhapura earth,
eyes half closed, hands
in the gesture of meditation.

Pulled from the earth with ropes
into a surrounding world.
Pulled into heatwave, insect noise,
bathers splashing in tanks.

Bronze became bronze
around him,
colour became colour."

from Buried
from Ondaatje's "Handwriting"

a mainstay of my poetry collection from the past few years...
