YAY! The gray house is definitely correct. You will enjoy it. And knowing you and Jay, the character will be oozing.

One of the joys of having our state house is that we get to propose projects and sometimes get them approved to spruce up the place. (especially if you're savvy with paperwork and cite the health/engineering/whatever benefits OR prove how the current state could be dangerous.) You'd not believe what a coat of paint and a new furniture arrangement does to the place. Really makes it YOURS. (You might already know this if your LL let you paint in Ashuelot.)

So far we've repainted our laundry, kitchen, and all the ceilings, and it has vastly improved our place. Replacing counters, floor, and cabinets in the kitchen is next (and possibly a new sink). It's exciting... and once you get used to it, you can't imagine what it would be like WITHOUT a project. That's where we are now...

YAY! Keep us posted!

Oooh, I cannot wait to paint! The year we lived with Jay's folks on LI, we had a great time redoing two of their rooms :-D

Thanks for the encouragement, I think it will be so nice to live in town...we're definitely excited at the prospect of that!

So far, so good. We've done a little bit of work on the house (repainting the back porch, replaced some plumbing, added insulation upstairs, gardening), but have some bigger projects on the horizon. I think drainage is going to be the big item this year. Overall it's been a positive experience that I would recommend to others ;-)

Nice! :-D Yeah, we're really eager to get our mitts on a place of our own, even if it does mean more work...there's just something so satisfying about knowing any improvements you make are for you and not for your landlord, lol ;)

Speaking as someone who has also been stuck renting for what feels like forever, I am envious!!

Hope everything goes well!!

Thanks! It's really been fun going around and just seeing different places. We keep pretending we're on that House Hunters show... we're probably driving our agent nuts, but she seems to be tolerating things fairly well for the most part, lol :D
