WTF?!

Mar 28, 2011 19:19

I am logged in to my permanent account, and see no adverts. No adverts, that is, until the one appears telling me that if I sign up for a Livejournal paid trial then I can enjoy LJ in an ad-free environment.

Care to fix this oversight, livejournal?

See my comment to the previous post (http://community.livejournal.com/permmembers/39409.html?thread=1446129#t1446129) as to why it's most likely an oversight and not an intentional means of angering their Paid customer base.

Frustrating for the people getting it but I agree. I think a reasonable number of people are experiencing what seems to be a glitch or an oversight.

I haven't seen this banner at all yet, myself.

Where are you seeing the ad? I can't see it anywhere (friends page, recent entries, profile, LJ home page), even after turning off AdBlock.

It appears at the top of the friends page, just below the login/search bar I have installed. It looked like the kind of thing that would have stuck in place if I'd hit the "next" link at the bottom of the page, but I don't know for sure.

I absolutely agree it's probably a coding error, but it ought to be very easy to fix. It's a bit concerning that LJ may be - accidentally OR mailiciously - forgetting the permie accounts ARE paid accounts.

I got that too, as a banner at the top of my LJ friends page. Only once so far, though.

I haven't seen the ad on my permanent account at all, but I've also got a free account where they've been displaying it for about a week now. If it has suddenly begun appearing on some permanent accounts today, my guess would be it's just a temporary glitch.
