oh what mp3 player to get. I've been reading all the product reviews, doing the research, etc. I can't really decide between either the Creative MuVo 512MB player that has a FM tuner/recorder, or the 4GB iPod mini. You'd be really surprised how much you actually DO want 1000 songs.

Also, the battery issue is huge. I mean, what the fuck runs on AAA batteries these days, anyway?

Don't be so stubborn, there's a reason why everyone has an iPod, they're better machines.

well rechargeable lithium ion batteries eventually fail as well. And apple charges you $99 just to replace the battery when it dies. I think they do that so you just buy another iPod instead of spending the $ to replace the battery. In any case, I think that's also a pain in the ass.

the basic problem is that technology advances so fast that it makes me question what is even the point. I just wait 6 months and I end up getting twice as much memory for the same price.

I wasn't trying to say that iPods weren't fantastic/stylish/awesome, but I think everyone assumes that they're the best. They are probably one of the best, but I think there are plenty of other great products out there too that are more competitively priced.

In any case, this is all now moot. My dad said he would send Mom's mp3 player to me, since she never uses it. So now I don't have to spend any money.
