I feel as though today is the first day I've been able to breath calmly and study happily since I saw miss_c_twist on Tuesday ( Read more... )

Your supervisor is brilliant - that's exactly what I'd hoped she'd say. The idea that this sort of thing has happened before is not exactly encouraging, but it's great that your supervisor is cluey enough to protect you by giving your paper to someone else.

Hopefully you can have a stress-free weekend to make your decision re subjects, and as I said, you're welcome to any of my notes, copies of readings or whatever else if you decide to go with the gothic lit subject.

*nods* Especially since I wasn't actually sure where an Honours paper was marked before today. I had this idea that it was a panel that judged all of the English Honours papers somewhere out in the ether.

But my imagination is good for inventing such things, as we saw with my invention of awesome and creepy subtext in Twilight yesterday..

It's not encouraging that this has happened before but, as I said to Mike, it's something that seems to be accepted. My supervisor had to, in her own good conscience, add that although this has happened before, the lecturer in question is unerringly fair and doesn't hold grudges. Merely just does not consider how their words may be taken.

Thank you again for the support and the continued offerings of helping me to catch up. I can't tell you how much it's been appreciated.

I'm glad that turned out well, and the supervisor assured you that she'd handle it. Awesome sauce.

Mmm. Yes. So much yes. I'm actually back to enjoying my work and smiling and bouncing today, as opposed to shaking back and forth like some of the lj mood pictures show.

So glad there's someone on your side after encountering such a horrible, unprofessional, and downright destructive teacher. One day she's going to trigger a PTSD attack in a student and that won't be pretty. When it happens, though, this event with you will be on file and will strengthen the case against her.

Indeed! I was actually astounded that she hasn't before. It's not as if PTSD is uncommon, and if she was upsetting me to such a degree...

I don't know that there will be any file made about it, to be honest. I've been given to understand that, while this does not usually happen to such an extent, it's not uncommon for lecturers to be more personal with students from 4th year to postgrad. Which I can deal with, so long as lecturers who don't know squat about me don't try to tell me my dedication to academia is lacking.
