Tonight was my final session as a youth worker. After 9 years paid in the job, and a few years as a volunteer before that, I never really thought this would happen. I thought I would always be a youth worker ( Read more... )

I feel like we’ve all been dumped on by the county council. Not just the youth workers, but future generations of young people too.

That is shocking. I don't understand how councils can be so naive.

Good luck on Monday. :)

It's all about the taxes, innit. There's a part of me that understands that. Everyone wants something from County Councils but no-one wants to pay for it. I even heard about a priest that refused to pay council tax!

However, a bigger part of me thinks that if they didn't spend so much f'ing money on road humps....

*hugs* I am sure that there will be other youth work opportunities for you Pete. You have such a passion for it, and you are right when you say that you have made a difference to people's lives! Think back on that with pride! :)

Anyway on a more frivilous note, Avon will make a huge difference too, think of how happy you will make me when you get all those free testers! only joking *hugs*

Thanks *hugs*. It would be good to keep my hand in with youth work as I say. Although I probably need a break at the moment. With the new job, I just want to see where it takes me. I got a list through of youth work jobs that might be available this morning, but they all seem to be part time and I'd be back where I was. At the moment, I'm looking forward, not back.

I'll have to see what I can get you from Avon. You are an expert, after all ;)

:(

Local authorities are the pits.

How fantastic you are, with the work you've done. I hope things work out for you in the future.

Thanks Jo. I've known how awkward local authorities can be in the past, but I can't believe how they've just left us high and dry. There was almost no consultation on this. One day we all had jobs, the next, nothing. It does make me wary about working in local authorities in the future.
