I GOT THE INTERNSHIP. Mr. M called me and talked and talked about stuff he'd already talked about and tried to make it sound like I'd beat out two hundred other people for the position. It seems that what helped me out in the end was my Mad Accounting $killz (TM) on top of my English stuff ( Read more... )

Yey!

BTW, the other day when you were like "Are you for real?" I did know you were seeking such an internship--I just did not know it was New York for crap's sake.

Now wait, is this the one where they're paying you like $0.30 an hour?

It actually comes out to about 2.14 an hour, but yeah, it's still not much.

Which sister are you living with, and what's she doing to make money? How can you afford to live in NYC? +_+ I sure can't.

My parents and her scholarships are paying for my younger sister's rent and living expenses. I just saved pretty much everything I made this past year. Also we share the tiniest studio apartment in the world. It's got the floorspace of about 4 twinsize mattresses.

What are you going to do until your job starts then? And is it still paying you crap? O.o

I'm going to have a little vacation and take care of various housing related issues--like the fact that only three out of the six outlets in this apartment don't work. And I only get paid 2.14 an hour, but if I make it to the end of the internship without screwing up, I am pretty much guaranteed a job with them or one of their associates.

it's awesome that it guarantees you a job, but i'm just hoping you can subside off your savings until that time arrives..

Luckily, I don't have much in the way of bills. No car payments, no insurance, etc. Just rent, subway fare, internet service, and food. It'll be cutting it close, but I'll manage.
