Holy crap. I've been looking for someplace to send my 9,000 word "short" story, but most places limit it to 5,000 or thereabouts. Of course, if they're looking for something really innovative form-wise, I doubt I'll win, but who cares; I'll dust off the old turd for a polish and give it a try anyhow.
