Ack! I was just dying when Jack was telling Ennis he could have it. :(

I know it's his immediate reaction, but I'll be interested to see happens to make him come around.

I am really enjoying this story!

This is written so beautifully. And the angst level, especially for Jack, is waaaay up there. He may be resilient and ever hopeful, but I hate to see him tested like this. This impasse can't last. They're both young, little discipline,& lots of hormones goin' on here! Ennis has admitted to Jack that he wants him, and Jack's response: "You can have it..." *ded!* It's out there now, in the ether. That is a set of circumstances that is totally irresistable!!! And I'm totally hooked. (I hate stories about the old West!) I have only one question: When will you be updating?

Thanks for you comments. I don't have a set time table for posting but I have been trying to post a new chapter every three to five days if poosible. I'm hoping to have the next one up by tomorrow night or sometime Sunday at the latest. I haven't been able to write at all today as I'm out of town at the moment so that has set me back a bit but I have this next chapter about two thirds of the way finished so hopefully I can get it wrapped up by this weekend.

I've finally read all the chapters, and I really love this beautiful story! You've truly captured what it would feel like for a young Jack and Ennis to meet each other in this time period, and you've taken the time to develop their friendship, so that what happens in this chapter feels so real and true and in character. I could really feel Ennis's desire for Jack mixed with his overwhelming fear that it wasn't safe, the heartbreak of his rejecting Jack's friendship... the terrible pain and sorrow and anger he's left with. And poor devastated Jack, all that's left of Ennis is the woodcarving he'd given him.

Wonderful writing, thank you!
