I can't imagine how they're gonna work this out, even with Charlie's help.

And jeeze, in 1860 something, did men know what queer men did with each other in the sack? I doubt "decent" men talked about such things, so.... (in fact, I've always wondered how Ennis knew what to do with Jack in that FNIT scene in the movie.... with a woman, yeah, he would have seen male/female animal action, so there's a clue, but with another man? Dunno.)

Whatever, hopefully you'll give these two suffering souls a way to be together. Love this AU.

LOL Well homosexuality has been around for a while so I think it's a pretty good guess that yes they did know what was what.

I doubt that men sat around discussing the ins and outs (no pun intended) of sexual intercourse whether gay or straight in general but I think they would have heard things(probably in derogatory tones with regards to m/m activities)from time to time in rougher company.

I think when it comes to sex, any sex it's very much instinctual at least in terms of basics and I think that Ennis and Jack while inexperienced will be able to discover together what they enjoy.

It also rings very, very true. Ennis would panic that way, given the time, the place, and his age. Poor Jack has gone straight to the divorce scene from their early friendship with no stops in between.:-(

Your writing makes it really easy to see the action and hear their voices. I felt as if I were hiding in that stable when Jack found Ennis there:

“Ennis ya didn’t do nothin’ wrong. Hell, it was just an accident ya didn’t mean to see me there ( ... )

Ennis is most definately NOT looking for a girl. Just want to make that perfectly clear. :)

I am sort of saddened that Ennis thinks he is protecting Jack by turning him away and letting him be. Jack is not the type to hide his emotions he wears them on his forehead and he needs Ennis by his side to protect him and guide him. Doesn't Ennis realize by letting him be cut free he is putting him in more harms way? Joe

Simply put, no. He doesn't yet realize that it might be safer to be together but I think he will figure that out given time. Right now he is having a knee jerk reaction to everything and his first instinct was to push Jack away to keep them both safe.

Don't worry though Jack may have felt defeated but he is ever hopeful. :)

I just have to tell you how much I am loving this story!!! These two boys are so sweet and it is both exciting and a bit sad to watch them struggle through their feelings as their relationship changes and grows. I can’t wait to see what happens next!! I love how Jack was with Ennis as Ennis struggled with what he was wanting…”Ya can have it Ennis” -- (Oh I can just hear Jack say that so clearly in my head)!!

Thank you for this wonderful story. You are doing such a wonderful job and should be so proud!! I can’t wait for more!!
