If a manufacturer produced two lines of merchandise, and one of them was nine times more likely to break than the other, often killing or injuring people, you'd do something about that product. Yes ( ... )

The same meme that pigeonholes men pigeonholes women as well. What these two articles have in common is self assertive women saying what they think.

In our society, this is not a trait to be admired but one to be admonished.

Women should be admired for being strong and assertive but they are not. They are threatened and called names.

This is why I always say that feminism is good for men too. Gender pigeonholes don't do anybody any favors.

I have nothing worthwhile to contribute to this except to say that I agree with you, Tim, and you are pretty awesome for writing something that should be obvious in such a well-thought out manner without raging all over it. Kudos, friend.

And the internet makes being an asshole easier than ever. It also provides a strong support network for assholes, which is why it is so easy to be one.

Very well said. I like that you clearly point out that what happens to a woman when she says something men don't like and what happens to a man are VERY different. The response these women got to their words wasn't trash-talking or disagreement or rational argument--any of which would have been fine and noncontroversial. This was loathing and a clear desire to scare the uppity bitches--who aren't really people, after all--into silence. It is distressing to watch, and quite frankly terrifying to be reminded that so many people actually think that way about women.
