D is at the Grand Final so I'm by myself, third day in a row, it's too wet to go out, and since she woke up I've had a cumulative total of thirty-five minutes of non-feeding non-crying time. I just want to eat lunch, dammit.*sigh
...and Bridie's starting to be more like a human than a human-in-waiting. She seems to have had one of those developmental leaps this weekend; she's really holding her head up a long time by herself, rather than just lifting it a few moments then it thumping back down on her carrier's chest. What do you do when a dear friend says she doesn't want to see you anymore because you remind her of someone else? I just want to put it on the public record that I'm not taking sides. S, I don't want to push you to see me and make it worse. Just let me know when you have had enough space, and I'll be waiting with hugs for you, OK?
... and I think we're doing better. Still not getting enough sleep, but that's the new normal I guess. She still wants to feed lots (today: 3.45 to now, crying whenever I try taking her off...) but I can deal with that during the day. Not sure if what I'm interpreting as hunger cries are actually that or something else, but when cuddling, burping

You can never have too many terry towelling nappies. Half of them went out of circulation immediately to cover any surface B lies on - both my feeding stations, change table, bassinet, carry cot, and a floating one for people's shoulders

Sorry for short notice but I just found this out: There is a bill currently before the House of Reps that would provide insurance for independent midwives, allowing them to practice next year, and thus allowing attended home births. ETA: According to Read more... )
Thanks to those who commented on my last post. Looks like flats/prefolds will be best for us, especially as we are going to try elimination communication, in which you don't actually want a super-absorbent nappy most of the time.
