Oh that sucks. My husband has Crohn's disease and has had several colonoscopies- he always says the prep is way worse than the procedure itself. At least you have good drugs to look forward to.

Endoscopy/colonoscopy drugs are usually midazolam (trade name Versed, a relative of Valium) and an opiate (Demerol or Fentanyl). Both have a "short" duration of action for anaesthesia/sedation, but the buzz lasts most of the day afterwards.
