Man, that really blows. :( My mom had thyroid issues when I was a kid and it definitely effects you a LOT for a body part you don't really think about...
It seems like they've made a lot of progress with arthritis, though? Not just pain management, but like physical therapy basically to keep everything limber. That runs in my family too and it's definitely not nearly as bad for my mom as it was for my grandpa and so on. I think there's a lot of room for maintenance and improvement in that area.
I've known I have thyroid issues for years, but my doctors never really listened to me until the guy I see now, who I'm very happy with for that reason, actually. I have a cyst on my pituitary gland, so when my metabolism changed radically at age 22 or whatever, I knew there was something wrong. But I was so skinny before that, and even though I gained like 20 pounds in a few months, I still looked like a normal sized person, so doctors weren't inclined to believe me that this wasn't my body's normal way. So annoying! But fixed now, yay
( ... )
Exactly! And you know, I'm not really surprised by any of this. There's a sense of disbelief on the RA because I'm only 29, but I knew I'd have some form of arthritis eventually, just based on not having much cartilage in my knees after my surgeries. It sucks that it's RA, but it'll be ok, I think. It's early enough that the meds should really help me.
The health issues sound very worrisome, but at least you have diagnoses, and that has to be better than not knowing for sure. And congratulations on the job!
It's definitely better than just randomly being in pain and having nothing work on it! I'm kind of excited to see the rheumatologist and start treatment. At least then maybe I can go more than a day or two without pain.
Congrats on the job offer and more money...much deserved.
What treatment is your doctor recommending for the RA? I have someone that works for me with severe RA, and while still functioning, she has a hard time. She does rounds of chemo to help...so I really hope they are doing something now, instead of waiting until it gets bad.
Also, happy to see that the "person" is still around. ;)
I haven't seen the rheumatologist yet. Not until April 2, which was when they could get me in. I'm sure she'll want to do more tests to confirm RA, but there are definitely a lot of meds out there now that can really slow down the progression of the disease, so I'm hoping she'll be aggressive in treating it.
And I'm happy my person is still around, too :) He's pretty awesome.
I was starting to wonder what had happened to you bb.
Glad the doctors at least know what it IS now, even if it's not the best news :|
And yay for getting Useless Girl's job. I used to have a useless girl too (only it was a boy, and I called him pet rock for obvious reasons ;D) and when he got fired it kicked my boss into hiring someone new who was competent and is actually able to help me in the office, which makes my life tons easier.
WTF America is right. Idol/tweentexters have finally put the cart before the horse, but I hear next season is it's last season, so bring on X-Factor?
