An Epilogue to the Last Post and a New Haircut

Sep 02, 2007 18:20

It turns out, as I suspected, many of my fears regarding my girlfriend (I confirmed the title this morning with her) were mostly the product of my imagination which was kindled about a month ago when my mother's boyfriend quipped, "I hope she feels the same way about you when you return." Things are much much better now ( Read more... )

yay for blinding teeth and hair adventures and groundless fears allayed! i'm so happy that things are well between you and your favourite lady.*

seems like all of us staunch lengthy-hair-ists are getting a good half of it hacked off. [i've yet to hear reports of it affecting our superhuman strength..]

I hope it's more than "the way I looked" but that certainly helps :) phallelujah September 3 2007, 18:24:36 UTC
I'm much more relieved indeed! And you're right: so many of us seem to be deserting our Rapunzelhood. If your superpowers start to wane, let me know ASAP.

your teeth do look amazing.
now may we see pics of your amazing girl? maybe a post restricted to those of us far from your school. or, if she's "girlfriend" now, maybe everyone can see?

She's a very private person though (which I'm sure you understand better than most) and was quite clear to me that she doesn't want to be part of interdepartmental gossip at school. You know, I think a non-McGill group is a great idea. I think I just might do that.

And thanks! :)

Oh wow, that's something. It looks good too!

How have people been responding to the change so far? -Allison

So far only a couple people have seen it and both reactions were great. I only worry that I won't be able to style it as well as the hairdresser did and I keep worrying that it looks too feminine.

For example, she got all those strands separated nicely somehow. Maybe it was by using a flat iron on little groups of hair or maybe it was with her magical hair products (especially Bed Head). Either way, I've got to figure it out 'cause my hair won't separate that way and it makes me look a bit like I've got a lady's cut.

And now that I'm starting to pay attention to this sort of thing more, I can't help but notice how rad your hair is in your display pic. And the facial expression: you just know that you're holding a handgun with a silencer just below the picture frame in a pseudo-prayer stance.

No, Mr. Bond. I don't expect you to talk; I expect you to die.

Yeah, it can take a lot of work to keep it looking like the hair stylist does. I mean, i even own a blow dryer now (which i never used in the past), but its the only way to get the same volume. A flat iron might help though. My friend has one, cause 'es got curly hair, and it totally smooths it out for 'em.

I wouldn't say its too feminine at all. I mean, you've got a masculine face and the beard makes it awfully to assign those qualities to you too (^_^) However, i would say it's pretty, whatever gender you need to assign to that word. -Allison (keeping 'er cool, KILLER STYLE)

I've got both a blow dryer and a flat iron (shhhhhh the metalheads might hear) and today I went out and bought some Dove "Straight and Soft sleek styling cream." Metal as fuck. I think I'll need some Bed Head though. And I'll make a trip back to the stylist for advice. As soon as she told me that her boyfriend is a metal drummer I knew I could trust her.

Thanks for the reassurance. I'm still getting used to it but more and more often I'll look in the mirror and like what I see. Thanks for saying it's pretty too. I totally understand what you mean and I think more ppl should expand their vocab of unisex compliments.

I'm not turning metrosexual though. DUN DUN DUN

new haircut is SO MUCH BETTER than the old dirty-metal-head-guy hair!

Yikes.

People who have lost a lot of weight apparently hear stuff like that all the time.

I guess that's the price one pays for being part of a subculture that demands uncommon aesthetics. When I had my four-inch goatee, guys and metalheads loved it but girls (esp. outside of the scene) hated it. I think the hair change will make a similar opinion split but I know which group of people I'd rather impress haha
