My wilder HBP suspicions (non-spoilery, of course) - just revised!

Jul 13, 2005 19:37

Well, I thought that my last hope of posting HBP predictions and arguments disappeared when my computer gave up on me yesterday, although I knew, of course, that it was already too late, since all sorts of spoilers are (now) already out ( Read more... )

Actually, there "are" a number of suspicious things about Tonks, starting with the fact that Kreacher doesn't obey her orders, whereas he ought to, regardless of whether she's on the tapestry - after all, "Sirius" isn't. It may be as Sirius says, of course...

Ah, but Sirius had been on the tapestry - from my understanding, Tonks never was placed on it: Andromeda was blasted off of it when she married Ted. So it may well be that Ted and Nymphadora were never recognized by the family, and Kreacher would have legitimate grounds for not obeying.

Also, assuming that Tonks is an imposter for the sake of argument - you realize that you just added a hefty load of evidence against Narcissa being the imposter? Unless she gave Kreacher a standing order to "disobey" her as Tonks, which would tend to throw suspicion on "Tonks" of being an imposter, which would of course lend credence to the theory that she couldn't have actually done so on the grounds of it being such a transparently stupid act... or am I just getting too Machievellian in my plots again? ;)

I don't think he said that Narcissa was an imposter? I think what he said was that Narcissa might be impersonating other people.

These are pretty interesting theories to read. And at the very least they do click and seem to make sense.

Your Narcissa being much more dangerous and behind the scenes, is especially ringing true for me, especially since if Draco's suppose to be trying to copy his fathers actions... Since all his plans tend to be in your face.

Only a few more days to go. @.@;

only twice has there been any reference to a prince in the Harry Potter canon

Dudley is described as a "pampered little prince" in one of the books, but I don't remember which one.

we know that legilimency and mental penetration does work by line-of-sight

Yes, but Snape explains that in this particular situation, line-of-sight is not needed for Voldemort to penetrate Harry's mind, or vice versa. Voldemort may have just been reading Harry to find out when he would be alone. It would be pretty easy for him to find out about Harry's hearing and make sure he sends the vision along while he's there.

it's interesting that the twins were willing to bet their life savings on their results

Thank you, I've been wondering this for YEARS myself. It never really is explained how they knew the outcome of the game, and I hope JKR doesn't leave that as a loose end.

But just how closely "does" Voldemort read Harry, from a distance? He certainly had no idea that Harry had never heard of the prophecy. And so far as we know, Voldemort has no idea about Snape's membership of the Order ( ... )

Now you've got me wondering if there's more to that "bad smell under her nose" expression that Harry notices that I always thought was pure snobbishness. Not that I have anything in mind, but I wonder if her expression meant something...

To add on here, as otherwise I may never explain it.

My theory on Marchbanks actually started as support for a larger theory that Malfoy(I said Lucius, but it could have been Narcissa who was also involved) was the actual instigator behind the D of M trap, and that Voldemort did not find out about the events until Harry's intense emotions broke into his mind after Sirius's death. Let's take a look at things, shall we?

At the end of GoF, Voldemort was not happy with Malfoy. Malfoy had, in essence, denied him at the end of the last war, and had been concentrating on building up his own power in the intervening years, rather than looking for a way to bring back Voldemort(with the possible exception of the whole diary incident). Malfoy, on the other hand, has just spent 14 years getting used to people grovelling in front of him, rather than grovelling at someone elses feet. A true Slytherin, he would be looking for a way to not only raise himself up in Voldemort's eyes, but show that he is more than a minion; a power to be reckoned ( ... )
