you see, here lies the problem... i care... i want somebody to fix the loopholes in the welfare system... and i want somebody to get rid of the "no child left behind" act... and i want somebody to make sure rowe vs. wade doesn't get overturned... and i want somebody to realize that the minimum wage is too low... i DO care... but our system of government is outmoded... we don't get to vote for president... we vote for the electoral college and they vote for the president... what we need is a direct vote for the presidency... but our politicians are crooked anyhow... they make empty promises in order to win your support... and nobody holds them accountable for the promises that were made... in this day and age, it's merely a choice between the lesser of two evils... you have to ask yourself is it truly worth it to vote for the electoral college so they can vote for a presidential candidate that isn't going to keep his saccharine promises of reform and a bright new world ( ... )

It wasnt that your vote didnt make a difference, its that we were outvoted.

Part of the reason we were outvoted was the additional parties. They tend to take votes away from the major parties. Part of the reason was that although there are plenty of liberal democrats and 3rd party voters in Tx, the Republicans are still the majority.

For now.

I know of at least 50 people who hate shrub but didnt go out and vote against him last election.

If they had, maybe we woulda had a chance.

Im not saying who you should vote for, just that you should go out and do it.

B/c yes, we are voting for the electoral college, but we put them in office with our votes too.

Most people dont pay attention to tthier local candidates and thats where it all gets screwed up.
