In which my "simple procedure" turns into a week of hospital fun

Dec 12, 2011 17:24

They finally let me out, a week later.  Oy.  They did the procedure on Tuesday (the one that makes no sense, involving talc, and seriously, don't even ask, because they've explained it to me fifty times and I'm not an idiot, and I still don't understand why this is a good thing to do to a lung).  They then spent three days trying to decide whether ( Read more... )

I'm so glad you're back!

...although, arg! That sounds like a lot of drawn out, not-at-all funness. I'm sorry you had to be there so long. And DMS, please, listen to the patient! Good lord... :S

And Octavian Nothing! When I read it awhile ago, I loved it, although it was also completely depressing. I hope the kitties take good care of you.

Thanks.

I guess Octavian Nothing is depressing, a little, but it's also so funny (I totally love Dr. Trefusis) and it has that historical distancing thing going on which helps keep the horror more theoretical.

DMS (I'ma go all PA on you here) needs slapped. (HAHAHAHAHA) You seem so calm about him, and I am not calm. A big fat slap is what he needs, yes. I'm sorry your stay was so long and not fun. Chest tube, nooooooooooooooooooooo. I never want one, ever. And ripping off band-aids quickly is fine, IF THEY'RE THE SIZE OF ITTY-BITTY BAND-AIDS, YO! DUH.

(AHAHAHAHAHA, still laughing about my missing 'to be')

I enjoyed Saving Francesca as well! But I liked Jellicoe Road, too. *shrugs* I also liked The Piper's Son.

KITTIES MAKE EVERYTHING BETTER (except maybe chest tubes)

How are Wildcat and Dr C?

Chest tubes actually don't hurt or anything. It's just the idea that's creepy.

I thought Jellicoe Road was well-written but a) it was too grim for me. I mean, did everyone have to have such unbelievably horrible family lives? and b) It annoys me when information is withheld from the main character for no particular reason, like WHO HER PARENTS ARE. Why did no one ever just talk to her? Sheesh. But a lot of people love it. *shrugs*

Oh yes, I see what you mean about Jellicoe Road. Maybe it's like me and movies: I like movies if the acting is good, whether the story is stupid or not. So maybe if the writing is good, I don't care about the details so much? I know I sometimes turn off my brain or something when I read, because when I got to Sounis it was like a whole new world opened up for me. I just don't analyze as much as you guys do, I think. I need you to guide me. Please to do my thinking for me. Okay? Thanks.

p.s. I'm not sure I believe you so much about those chest tubes, dear one. Maybe you are just tough. My oldest brother yelled loudly in high school and collapsed his lung (??? yes, we are the Loud Family) and had to have one put in and he claims it hurt. Mind you, an Army Doctor put it in...

On the other hand, if you're enjoying stuff that my overanalysis prevents me from appreciating, it sounds like you're having more fun!

Okay, well, I had anaesthesia for when they put the tube in. What I meant was that having it in there doesn't really hurt (but ack, the incision does now!)

I'll start with: I'm very glad you're home with family and kitties and out of the you-know-where.

Reading your post has given me much needed perspective on sitting in my office, talking to myself as I type ... ok, some things can't be helped. I think you are going to extremes in seeking new story material ... surely you can imagine those sorts of things, rather than having to go through them? Just kidding. Seriously, hope you continue to improve at home, which I'm certain is a better place than one with DMS, dysfunctional roommates' family members, and annoyingly loud technology. Hang in there.

And what a boring story it would be. It's funny there's so much hospital drama on TV. In real life, for the patients, it's dull dull dull.

DMS! That's brilliant. I went to the dentist today for a check up and I'm always freaked out how young the new dentist looks. She looks barely older than I am!

Urgh I'm sorry things didn't go well but yay cats! *smacks DMS upside the head for lack of people skills"

Bah obnoxious people! *hugs* Hang in there. Love you lots :-)
