My Dad turns 76 tomorrow
I'm taking him to dinner. I'm encouraging the boys to do something personal and thoughtful for him. He seems to be doing ok. He's active in his traditional jazz society, and playing ukulele and banjo in several bands. I had an aesthetic long weekend. I went to a gaming convention. I drove from work Friday Night to the San Ramon Marriot where Dundracon occurred. I saw a few friends from Seattle who I don't get to see very often, and a few others from the greater Bay Area, who I thought I would see more of at the convention. First date...
...not mine. My son's. My 13.5 year old took a fellow 8th grader to see "Definitely, Maybe" this afternoon. He gave her a single red rose purchased from the grocery store. I just talked to a head hunter, who said that at the end of the year, companies are usually focusing on hiring engineers before they lose the head count, that Marketing roles are a lower priority, and that pretty much all hiring activities come to a stand still by the first week of December.
