Today's great irony was that I regarded every sketchy young white guy in the train with a new level of apprehension, only to be approached later by the same lame breed of youngish black guy trying for my attention as who used to make me irate when I was a young woman living in the so-called Combat Zone. *sigh*

I confess that, although I'm semi-Luddite, I still enjoy the convenience of new technologies. For example, I've downloaded Catch the Bus to my iPod Touch and I attempt (usually in vain) to find free wifi signal while out in the city. Been a while
Tonight I was reminded of why I like lj (thanks, Meg): it's cause lj is like the rickety wooden swing hanging from the old tree in your back yard. It's there, it doesn't change much except to grow older and more dowdy, and yet, when you finally go back to it after a long time away (in the company of shiny new toys) and sit a while, you're home.
