hit me with a ruler

Right now is one of those times where I'm anxious but trying to pretend that I'm not because I know that in the grand scheme it's just school, it's just kindergarten but education is of such importance to a person and I don't want to freak it up and school doesn't even start for another five days and I'm already ramping up the jitters ( Read more... )

Big deep breath! You are choosing between two good choices. Your gut picked VR initially, it's ok to trust that right?

Yep, I have to remember that they are privileged choices to begin with. :)

Ah S, I am sorry this is all running through your mind.
Indeed, one's gut is a good indicator, like J said.
And maybe you should think of what soothes you, maybe some tea or a bath, and brew it up or take a soak... De-stress, don't second guess and, I think, shift your focus a bit on the endless possibilities and expanded horizons for R... I think that once he is there, he shall love it and / or his feelings about it could give you the greatest insight of all?

Endless possibilities and expanded horizons... I treasure the poet in you, you know that?

Thank you.

It fills my heart with immense joy, at reading this kindness from You...
In analogous debate, my own, inside my mind I have been delving into my plans with Zeke entering kindergarten and his age... The gut thing, whelp it tells me to go for it, the thinking on it, like endless hand wringing is telling me otherwise.
You and I would do good to just put our feet up and sip a cocktail!

I took the bus to school in kindergarten! It was cool.

Parents make the biggest difference in a kid's education, anyway. No matter where he goes, he'll have some good teachers, he'll have some bad teachers, and that's okay, it's life. Builds character. Builds more character if he's got loving and supportive parents behind him, and it sounds like he's okay in that department.

Thanks! I appreciate the reminders and the non-parent perspective. It's so easy to get tunnel vision and forget the bigger picture.

He just wants to stay home and play with Legos (I know the proper plural is Lego but that bugs me) and watch Magic School Bus. This would be why I should not homeschool.

Or, alternately, this is exactly why you should be homeschooling!

Take a deep breath, dear sweet photosprout. xoxo

I was just coming to comment the exact same thing! You've got a bright, clever kid. He'll be fine!

I talked to another neighbor mom at a birthday party yesterday and while her kid goes to B, she said that every family she's talked to that goes to VR loves it. So that's good!

The hallways there are already cheery - each bank of lockers is painted a different primary color, and it has a nice smell - old but not musty. Sort of peanutty. The one thing I wonder about is seismic soundness.
