Putzer, I am going to be brutally, painfully honest with you.
You look like a total nerd.
Congratulations, you're a normal Asian college student! :D
My orientation is a week long, too... except it hasn't started yet. Seems like everyone's starting school earlier than I am. (I move in on Saturday. Joy.) And yeah, I'm kind of regarding the whole college thing as a very, very long CTY summer camp.
Also, if the campus is dangerous enough, ask the security guards to walk you back to your dorm after dark, or yeah, take up the offer of free rides. (It's what everyone tells me about JHU. AKA the place where students get shot and killed regularly, or something like that.) Knowing you, you'd probably look like a heck of an easy mark. XD
Play up the geeky angle, some girls really dig it. XD Get into gaming, Dungeons and Dragons, Magic, that kind of thing. Who knows, it seems to work for some people...
Haha, and then I could've traumatized you more by constantly poking you. It'd sure make you look weirder, too... XD
Hey man, welcome to the real world! (no, no buger-colored pill for you this time*) You have to get used to this kind of life.
I've also been meeting a lot of people, except these few days only international students are here, so I know quite a lot of them by now. Our school also makes a good effort to let us know each other.
And, I guess one of the solutions to feel less intimidated is to build up your body. Yes, workout, you'll probably need a much buffer body in the States.
And... I don't think college will be like GYLC once the courses start kicking in, even though I've never atteneded it. But yeah, I miss the good ol' days as well... Though college will be gone in a blink of an eye, just like highschool did.
