Here's an excerpt from a conversation me and guave' Guav are having about an unconstitutional law, Israel and moral clarity. It's interesting in general, but it's more important in that it vets the notion that Israel is comparable to apartheid South Africa. You often hear this claim, and this is my first truly expository attempt to analyze it.

my dad worked for the ANC so we didn't buy south african products during apartheid. now we go out of our way to buy israeli products.

What did your dad do for the ANC? Did he, or your family, live in South Africa? My father grew up in Capetown.

The ANC... are we beginning to trace the roots of your socialism? :)

he just went over there to help organise the election. he stood outide polling stations and stopped people from being bullied into not voting by racists, that kind of thing.
i've never lived in s.africa, but my aunt lives there. her husband started the anti-racism magaine DRUM. they live in johannesburg, i've never visited them, but i will one day.
